Boxing Notebook: Everythings Super This Week

SuperFighter hit New York City on Monday – its the newest trend. A few fights, four rounds, 8 contestants – its 4 hours of mayhem, Australian design.

Stephen Duval, CEO of Australia-centered Superfighter, met While using the media to speak about his desire – its a doozy. Duval invented an eight-man eliminator that offers the winner a whopping $five million. Fighters cant even get their contracted minimums, which can be as little as $five,000 a struggle, so this is better then lotto. The losers? They acquire the $200K minimum amount.

Heres the lineup, up to now:

Chris Byrd (39-3-one twenty KOs) The previous IBF heavyweight champion. His design and style has place more people to rest then Nyquil. Byrd will try to peck his way to victory. But after the beating he took in opposition to Wladimir Klitschko, and unofficially losing four of his final 5 bouts, I wouldnt wager on him with your hard earned money.

ONeil Bell (26-one-one 24 KOs) The current cruiserweight winner. He crushed French tank Jean Marc Mormeck inside of a war. A big as well as for Bell is he can crack. But he in no way has confronted a heavyweight, and he requires too many punches flush. Towards a significant it would be beddy-bye for Bell. Wager on him acquiring removed through the 3rd spherical.

The Nigerian Nightmare Samuel Peter (26-one 22 KOs) – Hes George Foremans decide to choose it all. Inside a 4-rounder, hes by far the most harmful opponent. But can he have his energy through 4 hrs, 12 rounds and a few opponents? Odds must be in his favor.

Steve USS Cunningham (19-0 10 KOs) Hes the #1 IBF cruiserweight and walks about at 195 lbs. Cunningham showed a dynamite chin by having every little thing Guillermo Jones could present. If hes matched up with Samuel Peter, his ship sails. In any other case, he has sufficient boxing abilities to dazzle his way to the finals.

Tye Fields (36-1 33 KO) I concur with Max Kellermans Examination: At 6-nine, 293 lbs., instead of so competent, he’s an attraction, not [https://www.c9taya.ph C9TAYA] a contender. Hes a protracted shot.

Shannon Briggs (45-four 40 KOs) Considering that his loss to Jameel McCline, he has fought each individual club fighter from Ny to Arizona. BUT hes obtained the encounter, he can battle and it has underrated hand speed. He may very well be the man to beat. I see him earning the ultimate

Alexander Povetkin (7-0 five KOs) I believe Povetkin is Russian for pulverized. Hes way too raw to most effective any of the combatants. Hes a huge underdog and doesnt ensure it is earlier the primary round.

#8 – OPEN

Maybe we should set odds on this circus even acquiring off the bottom. Just Consider back again to Cedrick Kushners Fist Brimming with Dollars? Is it possible to recall who gained? Ample reported

Clottey Chasing Margarito

Joshua Clottey (28-one, 20 KOs) is rated #four via the WBC, #five with the WBO and #seven via the IBF. Just as the higher ratings suggest, Clottey thinks he is capable of beating the very best welterweights on the earth, and getting reeled off 9 consecutive victories the star from Ghana has his eyes set on WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (33-4, 24 KOs).

Im decided to become a earth champion,” Clottey states. “I've the abilities, get the job done ethic and heart being a champion. Margarito may want to battle A simpler struggle right this moment, however, if Antonio desires to keep at welterweight, he can run, but he cant cover.

Floyd Mayweather turned down an $eight million greenback present to confront the WBO winner, so Margarito is jogging out of defense selections.

In a modern FightBeat.com interview, Bob Arum confirmed a Clottey matchup: Mayweather has revealed reluctance to struggle Margarito, so we're contemplating putting Margarito-Clottey about the undercard of Rahman-Maskaev clash. That struggle normally takes position Aug. twelve.

Are you All set for WWIII?

Diego Chico Corrales (40-two 33 KOs) and Jose Luis Castillo (52-seven-one 46 KOs) are revving their engines to make A further combat in the calendar year.

If youve in no way viewed their 1st fight, GET IT! Chico was knocked down 2 times during the 10th spherical and arrived again some sixty seconds afterwards to gain it. Check out garyshawproductions.com to perspective Spherical 10. Just amazing.

Their 2nd bout was marked with controversy. Castillo didnt make weight and refused to even check out. Castillo was fined for this stunt, but Staff Corrales agreed to combat anyway.

The final result: Corrales on his back.

The excess weight issue proved to become a oversight, a thing even promoter Gary Shaw admits:

I’ll by no means do once again what I did During this battle,” Shaw stated. “In case the agreement calls for a hundred thirty five lbs . Will probably be at one hundred thirty five lbs.”

The combat normally takes spot June three. Remain tuned next week for my breakdown and prediction. Sportsbook has Castillo-220, Corrales 180

Barrera Wars with Juarez

As the final bell rang, he walked back again to his corner with swollen eyes, a bloody nose and probably a damaged jaw – and which was the winner!

Marco Antonio Barrera definitely underestimated 2000 Olympian Rocky Juarez. Juarez confirmed electrical power with each hands and saved countering Barrera all night time with left hooks and overhand rights. HBO did its regular cheerleading for Barrera, seldom mentioning Juarez Until he bought hit. The fighters dueled on even conditions for 12 rounds, and the choice was what most anticipated a attract

Unexpected was the announcement that judge Morita’s scorecard was tabulated Completely wrong. The proper overall was one hundred fifteen-114 in Barrera’s favor to give the winner a split-selection victory.

For Xmas I promise to deliver the Fee a calculator
